Algo trading platforms

In this blog post, I will be talking about the various trading platforms I have used in past 3 years of Algo trading. 

Tradetron

Tradetron was the first platform which I started using in Jun' 21 which was the start of my algo trading journey. Coming to the advantages of the platform, it is a no code platform which means you have lot of flexibility in setting up the strategies in the way you want. Even without knowing coding you can set up the Tradetron to execute your trading logic. 

This platform can be used to set up simple time based straddles, strangles as well as complex strategies e.g. legs with varying SL, varying entry/exit times etc.

During my start of trading journey there were lot of strategies floating on YT which were using Super trend. Was able to automate them using this platform but found that their returns were not as good as advertised. 

It even provides the logic for stock options trading which is not usually available on other trading platforms. Along with this it has lot of technical indicators built in through which one can trade as the discretionary traders trade. 

Coming to dis-advantage of the platform, I found that it has slowness in firing orders where orders might get fired with few seconds delay may be because of complexity of its no code platform. Also some times because of data issues, it can chose far ITM strikes instead of far OTM strikes. Also found sometimes it doesn't square off all the trades taken in case an error comes during trade, and it is re-started by using its error handling options. Because of all this I have to limit my trading on this platform to mostly result day stock options trading as currently other two platforms which I use don't have it. 

Quantiply

This platform is the best for time based straddles/strangles/Range breakout/ Momentum buy kind of strategies at very high quantity. Never faced issues in execution of trades as well as in square off of trades. Most of my capital is currently deployed on this platform. 

Algotest

This platform is kind of newest kid on block but a geeky kid. It still doesn't have as flexibility as Tradetron but have added various features in no time such as Trading View input, lazy leg and reverse positions to enable advance strategies on its platform. Also it is cheapest in terms of cost per strategy execution among all 3 platforms used by me. In my limited use, haven't seen any errors on this platform. 

The only dis-advantage which I see currently in it is that strategies have to be manually deployed every day and it can be done after 8:30 AM only. If it can also provide setup to keep strategies activated all time and ask for broker login after 8:00 AM itself, it can become more better.
